Oloid Passwordless Installation Methods for EPIC Login
Updated over a week ago

Oloid Passwordless offers multiple methods for integrating secure, passwordless authentication into EPIC systems. These methods vary based on the infrastructure in place, whether EPIC is running locally on a machine, within a Citrix environment, or through a host PC. Below is an overview of the three available installation methods:

Method 1: Install Locally on the Machine Running EPIC (Citrix or Local Machine)

This method installs the Oloid Login Device directly on the machine running EPIC, whether it is a Citrix-based virtual desktop or a local workstation. Here’s a high-level breakdown of the process:

Installer: Oloid provides a pre-certified and tenant-specific installer available in the Oloid Tenant Admin Portal.

Setup: After downloading the installer, users will run the Oloid Login Device Installer on the target machine.

Authentication: Once installed, EPIC will automatically detect the Oloid Login Device and use it to authenticate users, providing a seamless passwordless login experience.

This method ensures that authentication is managed directly through the machine where EPIC is running, whether local or virtual.

Method 2: Install on Host PC - Credential Provider + RPA Extension

In this approach, Oloid is installed on the host PC, not directly on the machine running EPIC. This installation includes the Oloid Windows Login Screen and the RPA (Robotic Process Automation) extension for EPIC login.

Credential Provider: Adds a passwordless login option on the Windows login screen. Users can authenticate to their Windows session without a password.

RPA Extension: This extension manages the passwordless login for EPIC by automating the login process.

Even if EPIC is running on Citrix, this method ensures that the login is handled by the RPA extension on the host PC.

Method 3: Install on Host PC - RPA Extension Only

For those who do not wish to modify the Windows login screen, this method installs only the RPA extension on the host PC.

Windows Login Unchanged: The Windows login screen remains the same as it currently is, without any modifications.

RPA for EPIC Login: The RPA extension automates passwordless authentication into EPIC, even if EPIC is being accessed via Citrix.

This method is ideal for users who want to keep the default Windows login experience while still benefiting from passwordless EPIC authentication via the Oloid RPA extension.

Each of these methods is tailored to provide flexibility depending on your infrastructure and security needs. Once you’ve identified the method that best fits your environment, follow the detailed setup guide for that specific installation.
